Book Description:

Matthew David McConaughey is an American producer and actor. He started his career by performing mini-roles as a supporting actor in the comedy show Dazed and Confused. Although his role was pretty minor, that is considered as the breakout role of his career. Greenlights is his famous book.

After that, he got the chance to be a supporting actor in the films, Angels in the Outfield in 1994 and Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation in 1994. Eventually, he came on the screen as a leading character by performing the primary role in a legal drama serial A Time to Kill in 1996.

His leading role performance started from this drama and never stopped. Matthew’s serials include Amistad, The Newton Boys, the Satire Edtv. He also performed in the films as the main character. His films include the fiction film Contact, War film U-571, and psychological film frailty.

Matthew wrote this book to help people find themself and identify who they are and their purpose in life. If you have ever read autobiographies before, you may be familiar with their flow of text. All the content is headline generated, but McConaughey picked a different approach and wrote every insight into becoming what he is today.

Besides an actor, Matthew also has a passion for writing. He wrote his best book Greenlights in 2020. The Crown imprint of Crown Publishing group published this book on October 20, 2020.

Matthew has also released audio readings of his book. Greenlights describes Matthew’s life in chronological order. It is considered to be a memoir, but the author said it is an approach book. This book was in the list of top bestsellers on The New York nonfiction. The background history of this book is quite interesting. Matthew stayed in a desert for fifty-two days while writing this book. He stayed there without any luxury facility and electricity.

Moreover:

McConaughey gathered information from diaries and journals to start writing his life incidents when he was 14 years old. He said this book is a collection of stickers, prayers, stories, people and places.

Matthews is a part of different shows, so he promoted his book by appearing in Good Morning America, The Daily Show with Trevor Noah, The Garyvee Audio Experiences, and Russel Wilson’s Danger talk podcast.

This book got critics and acclaims as well. In their review, the Times of India wrote that this book is written by maintaining a conversational tone hence easy to read. Moreover, the writer himself recorded the audio, so it is very entertaining.

He has tried his best not to disclose the events that may cause distraction from the central theme of the book Greenlights. From the beginning of the book, it would be clear to you that the author has a deep love for language and loves to play with it often. This approach made his book a poetic memoir rather than a chronological order book.

The title of the book attracts the readers towards it as it seems something positive has happened when you hear the word Greenlights. This memoir has a unique approach as you will not see anything regarding his ex-relations, co-stars and seedy gossips.
